☠ First Impressions

☠ VISUAL: Green, with long hair tied up in a ponytail. Her icons are accurate: she's completely and totally green.
☠ FASHION: Generally wears the same hospital gown, but if given the opportunity she'll absolutely wear mom jeans or sweater or a dress or what have you. The hospital gown is the same color as her, in a vaguely uncomfortable sense.
☠ DEMEANOUR: Generally pleasant and friendly, if also very nervous at times. Very plainspoken, with a frequent "um" or "uh". She tends to adjust her viewpoint depending on who she's talking to, preferring to follow the flow than speak out. With people younger than 20 in particular, she gets extremely protective and caring, far more willing to give them a break for rudeness. Adults, she's much less likely to let it slide.
☠ SOUND: I imagine she has a fairly low, but sweet voice. Normal enough in conversation, but easy to put on a doting, motherly tone when needed.
☠ SCENT: Fern smells disgusting, covered in grime and various unsettling fluids. She's absolutely getting into that shower ASAP and cleaning this horrifying mess up.
☠ MENTAL INFORMATION: She has huge gaps in memory before The Hospital. She attended college classes, got up to some crimes as a kid, had some overbearing judgy parents, but names and faces are a complete blur. Even her son's name has vanished. Pushing on these points will cause her quickly change the subject or react angrily.
☠ MAGICAL INFORMATION: She's green and she can't see that for herself. Its weird.

☄ OOC

☠ BACKTAGGING: I love it, always more more more.
☠ FOURTHWALLING: Fern vaaaaguely has connections to the fourth wall, having regular conversations with "commenters" telling her what to do. Not relevant in Trustfell, her connection has been cut off.
☠ PHYSICAL AFFECTION: No problem with hugs or friendly physical affection, as long as she knows them well enough. Kisses are... not her favorite and generally avoided.
☠ PHYSICAL VIOLENCE: She will 100 percent deck someone if they hurt her or people she cares about. Very much stronger than she looks.
☠ RELATIONSHIPS: She's asexual and tends to be fairly vocal about her disinterest in dating. However, she honestly would not object to a low-key, romantic relationship without any sexual pressure, although she'd be reluctant to admit it.

☄ Permissions

☠ Death: She's died and been "cloned" dozens of times. It weighs heavy on her. If you don't want it to come up, it won't.
☠ Body horror: She's seen shit. Various indescribable horrors have occurred to her and it was no fun. It might come up and each time will have heavy warnings with it, so people are prepared. I can avoid it in personal threads if people so choose.
☠ Child death: Her son is kidnapped and his potential pff-screen demise haunts her. I can avoid that topic too.

Funny kid struggling with growing up. Sweet, smart, and with a sharp wit. I hope she knows that I have her back. Protect

Aligula
Amorous
A... unique girl. From some strange world with a different moral code, needs to learn more empathy. Quirky and fun. I kinda like her? I mean, she's terrifying and creepy, but she kind of reminds Maggie. Friendly, helpful, will kill you if given the chance and think nothing of it while still calling you a friend. That kind of vibe.

Angel
Edifying
Formerly sick kid. Little cagey, but ultimately a sweetheart. Seems to have a weird boss. But how much work could she have done in a hospital? Protect.

Blue
Evolutionary
Basically a kid. I understand why you did it. But you should've talked to someone. And now you're a bad influence.

Cabanela
Ardent
Some kind of police inspector. Hard to get a read on, but a big help, I don't think we could figure out these bodies without him.

Caren
Aqueous
Treated horribly for reasons beyond her control. Would I have acted like Jean to her if I knew the truth? Another monster to slay, more parents left childless?

Chie Hori
Informative
Unflappable son of a gun. Seems extremely reserved, but interesting. Photographer of some kind in a ghoul town. Wonder if ghouls are cool or always evil.

Chitoge Kirisaki
Dexterous
Bit of a potty mouth, but extremely charming and friendly. She was so bright and caring. I should've protected her.

Elda Marker
Indomitable
A violent, rude, arrogant little shit. Thinks she can walk around hurting others with no consequence. Fucker.

Still. A good listener. She's the first person besides Dr. Staph who ever listened to me about Junior. I think I wanna bury the hatchet, but I don't know how with someone like her. Does she know how? And goddammit when will you EAT

Estellise Sidos Heurassein
Noble
Sweet girl with a good heart. People mock her optimism, but I think its good in a place like this. Protect.

Colonel Frank Archer
Ambitious
Serious soldier. Seems to have a good head on his soldiers. Very trustworthy sort of guy, outrageously unflappable in the face of all this nonsense. The Sloppy Joe Thing caught him off guard though.

Vivacious
Goofy kid. Has a few screws loose, but a perky and friendly soul. I hope she's alright. Her dreamy nature is gonna get her hurt in this place sometime. Protect.

Kyrie Ushiromiya
Pragmatic
Another mom. Friendly and a good listener. She's got a real mature air to her. Kinda Obi-Wan-ish? Not sure how to ask her why she hates her stepson. Probably none of my business. Hell, maybe he's just a rich prick or something.

Luca Valentino
Inconspicuous
A smart man with a strong wit. Outrageously helpful and friendly. Always taking the time to chat. I... think we're friends? I haven't had a human friend in a while. We should get drinks sometime.

Peerless
A solider. I think? What does "Spirit Lord" entail? Very heroic air to her.

Orihime Inoue
Harmonious
Insightful kid who's smarter than I gave her credit for. Makes a mean stew. Protect.

Dr. Rideaux Zek Rugievit
Evaluating
Arrogant guy. I've dealt with enough arrogant doctors that think they know shit for a lifetime. And that was before the Hospital. Can't help me. Dr. Staph is twice the doctor he'll ever be.

...I can't believe I know good germ doctors.

Rin Tohsaka
Courageous
Extremely focused girl, haven't seen her crack a smile yet. Protect? She better not be drinking

Sayaka Maizano

Disturbingly happy and potentially dangerous, but a good person at heart. Poor taste in men. She's like a more criminal Maggie and you kind of enjoy talking to her.

Angel Hyperion

Ferid Bathory
Cunning
On good terms, but he's on a thin line.

Mahiru Hiiragi

Name: Fern Green
Age: Somewhere around 23
Canon: Awful Hospital: Seriously the Worst Ever
History: There's not a lot details about Fern's life that have been privy to the reader at this point, so lots of inferences have to be made. She lived a relatively normal life before arriving at the Hospital. Did a lot of odd jobs, whatever to pay the bills, saving up for the future or any potential college plans. Barring some mentions of being in shady bars being "up to no good", she was a normal woman who made some mistakes.

Not really knowing what "asexual/aromantic" was, she decided to give dating a shot. After experimenting for a while, she concluded that relationships weren't for her. However, her most recent fling had left her pregnant. With the father not in the picture, she decided to try raising the child herself, hoping to do something right. As it turned out, motherhood was something that came naturally to her. She loved the little guy more than anything. Finally satisfied with her lot in life, she even started looking into college classes to better support her son.

Then he got sick. Horribly sick. Fern quickly became desperate to find any kind of cure, everything from injections, pills, cream. His skin was growing too fast, he was glowing green, he was literally falling apart at the seams. Everything seemed to make him worse. Much worse. He eventually got sick enough that he and Fern was whisked away to the Hospital.

For lack of a better term, the Hospital is an interdimensional facility that deals with medical problems across the multiverse. The doctors are experts in their fields at home, but are ill-equipped to deal with the ridiculous patients they come across, especially "greyzoners" like humans. Greyzoners are practically unheard of in the Hospital, with their weird concepts of "dying is permanent" or "needing blood to live". Terrified of what they might do to her son, Fern began a desperate search.

AND THEN A LOT OF STUFF HAPPENED THAT I'LL TRY TO KEEP BRIEF.
- She helped out her fellow patients, a fetch quest that soon turned into a genuine fondness for these "monsters" when they encouraged her to find her son.
- She accidentally murdered some sentient kidney stone babies and then had to kill the angry mother kidney stone in self-defense. They two mothers reached an understanding as the kidney stone died and Fern adopted one of the remaining kidney stone babies for the time being.
- She helped the cafeteria make their sloppy joes, although she probably didn't want to be the sloppy joe.
- A talking door(?) tried to make her eat the sloppy joe made from herself.
- She died a LOT. Then went into one of her former corpses and befriended some worms/bacteria. She brought a bag of flies to life and then watched it sacrifice himself for her.
- She came to terms with the fact her son's disease might be bad enough that he has to be killed for the safety of the multiverse.
- She met another human named Jay who's kind of a huge, monster-hating asshole. She also began to realize that she might be green.

So basically, Fern's seen a lot of shit.

Canon Point: Fern's first canon point should be just before her arrival in the Hospital, during the later stages of her son's sickness. Her second/real canon point is after fighting a recently infected/monstrous Jay, falling unconscious after finally beating him.
Memories:
- Waking up in the Hospital and meeting the incompetent Hospital staff.
- Killing the Kidney Stone Mom and their heart-to-heart as she passes.
- Enjoying a campfire in her own corpse with sentient worms.
- Watching her surrogate bag-of-flies son sacrifice himself just so she can cross a river.
- Talking with Jay, learning that she looks green, the same color as her son.
- Being comforted by the Bloodstain as she realizes her son might need to die.
- Encountering a room full of her corpses.
- Meeting Dr. Mann and receiving his explanation of the multiverse
Material Regains: GIVEN THE CONTENT HERE, I've put some warnings.
- Kidney Stone Baby (sentient but too young to do anything)
- Sloppy "Joe" (trigger warnings for cannibalism)
- a bag of flies (non-sentient)
- an storybook about a sentient cake that wants everyone to die
- Get Well Cupcake (I swear this one is actually normal)

Basic alignment: Fern's good. She's a good person. She's willing to help out pretty much anyone, regardless of appearance and is relatively understanding. That said, she's willing to do anything to get her son back. She's killed lots of monsters during her quest, albeit mostly in self-defense and only feels slightly bad about it. Despite her objections and massive guilt, she still allowed the sentient bag of flies to kill himself forever for her. On the other end of the spectrum, she also understands that, if her son really is a threat to the multiverse, she just wants to be there when he's killed. She understands that things aren't black and white everywhere and is willing to do gray things for selfish or "good" reasons. So neutral good.

Strengths and Weaknesses: Fern is best defined by her determination. Upon hearing that her son's been kidnapped, she immediately threatens the doctor keeping him and begins an epic journey to get him back. Despite dying numerous times and surrounded by creatures with unfathomable moralities and beliefs, she never lets it stop her for long. On more than one occasion, someone threatening her son was enough for her to fight back harder than she was before. Her heroic willpower, for lack of a better word, is enough to fight against mind control and other mental attacks.

But perhaps Fern's biggest strength, above all else, is her maternal instinct. She's gone above and beyond in her attempts to save her son, doing things no one in the history of the Hospital's accomplished. She's befriended and aided numerous monsters over the course of her journey and is sympathetic to their plights. Despite their different moralities, she gets along with the worms as long as they don't eat her corpse in front of her. She's immensely caring to those she sees as children, from a bag-of-flies she's only known for a few minutes to a kidney stone. Anyone that helps her out or is at least nice earns her loyalty. Even if you're rude, she'll at least try to help out or be pleasant. Crossing or threatening her is what draws the line.

That said, Fern is only human. She makes a lot of assumptions about the creature around her before it becomes apparent what kind of creatures they are. She dismissed a sentient runny nose as a whiner until he sincerely wishes her luck on her adventures. She assumed a sentient hamburger was going to murder her before it set down his knife to shake her hand. In battle, she's often unnecessarily harsh and gets referred to as a "Barbarian Hero" by one of her close worm friends.

By contrast, she also finds herself being a little too trusting. She lets herself fall into a trap in the cafeteria, causing her to be cooked into a sloppy joe. She agrees to help the suspicious Dr. Balmer and is genuinely surprised when he double crosses her.

On some level, Fern's adapted to the bizarre world around her. Her first encounter with one of her own corpses lead to a panic attack. Later incidents merit only a roll of the eyes and a "WHATEVER". At one points, she finds it weird that a none of the body parts in one room are trying to talk to her. She's learned to be a little more reserved with her information and even finds herself trusting creepy-looking monsters over humans like Dr. Mann and Jay. She's often plain-spoken and avoids any unnecessary words, while everyone around her rambles about interdimensional whatsits. She comes off as dim-witted to the creatures around her, despite the fact she's slowly grasping the concepts of "zones" as dimensions and "layers" as a fragment of time. That said, it takes her a while to grasp the basics and can be slow on the up-take.

Fern can be described, simply, as a human in an inhuman world. The key difference between canon points is how much of an inhuman world has she adjusted to, for her own sanity

Skills and Abilities:
- Fern's got exceptional willpower with an ability to resist mental manipulation.
- Due to the unique way Awful Hospital approaches interactive webcomics (like early Homestuck), Fern has limited awareness of the 4th wall. She perceives comments/suggestions as "strange voices" although she largely prefers ignoring them. She'd probably only be able to pick up a few random mentions of "plurk" and such, but I'm willing to forego this power entirely if its a dealbreaker.
- Stabbing things really hard.
Motives: Her son. He's the most important thing in her life and making sure he's okay. She would also be tempted by the possibility of saving someone else. For example, killing someone to bring the bag-of-flies back to life. She might even be willing to let someone else kill her if she suspected she was carrying the same disease as her son. [This is a game based around murder. What would motivate your character to kill, or what are some things that are very important to them – perhaps more than life itself?]
Sample: Test Drive thread

Plot Involvement:

Would you prefer that your character be a victim, a culprit, or do you have no preference? No preference, I'm up for anything.
Would you like to volunteer to have your character killed off? If it required and no one else signed up for it, sure.
Would you be willing to have your character be a mole/killswitch for the Adjudicator? Sure, but she'd be sassy about it.

Confused by Ms Green's general stuff? Join the club. In any case, here's some basic info that will probably come up the most frequently.

- She's very green. She doesn't know she's very green. She can't see that she's green. People are free to comment on it, but she'll react with confusion and/or irritation.
- She tends to think in the second person, for plot-related mystery reasons. Who knows if she can snap out of it for good. If that's confusing/you don't like it, I'm happy to switch to normal thread talk

Occasionally, I'll break these rules for threading convenience. Such as when I don't feel like it. Or memes.

[OOC]

Backtagging Go right ahead.
Threadhopping Ask permission, but I'm generally alright with it.

[IC]
Flirting Feel free, but she's content being single and will probably brush it off.
Mind-reading Sure thing
Mind-control She's got heroic willpower to spare, so she'll eventually be able to stop herself from doing anything she's not comfortable with. Feel free to plot things out though.
